Pastel Paintings

Question for photographers. Why the photographs of paintings sometimes look far better then the original?
I take digital pictures of my paintings with a carema phone as a way to see if there are something I should change a little or improve, but I wonder why the photographs sometimes look far better then the original paintings. They look more vibrant and clear. (Btw my works are done mostly in pastel and pencil.)
It is probably just that your phone camera is auto adjusting the picture and increasing the contrast and brightness of the colours in your Artworks.
