Is it illegal to copy DVD movies?

Ok, I've been in an argument with a friend who says he is against the law "big time" to copy DVD movies. I have not done this but if someone wants to make a copy just for them, can get you in trouble? This is not at all for the sale or loan, the People only own library of films. I thought at one point Kim Komando (radio announcer) said it was legal as long as it is only for your own use.

No, it is an infringement of copyright. Even if it is for personal use is illegal to copy a disk used for purposes of sale or rental. I say it anyway and screw greedy comanies they charge too much for the entertainment.
