Movie Review: In the Great Silence
The transcription and editing of an email discussion general public "The great silence "indicates that this film is a winner: director Philip Groening study to the Grande Chartreuse is the opening monastery. This email written by the father R. and tells the protagonist of the film. Note that the film is silent, with subtitles, and it took more than ten years for theater director receive permission to film on the life of the monastery. R. Father wrote in his message:
"Father Laurence Freeman is a fascinating point … the main character of all is the secret of God, are everywhere: in the monks in the church halls and in the field. And the consequence is that God should be the main character in our lives, in our classrooms and the church and fields. "
The life of a Monk is a devotee of God. "Into Great Silence," documents the events of the life of monks living in a Carthusian monastery. The DVD that I have two discs, with the second disc containing a statement of an Italian cardinal (which is an added attraction and certainly worth worth the price of admission). There are other interesting comments on the second disk. As for the film, which is on the first disk, I found this film a powerful.
In response to R. Abbe wrote in my public email:
"Dear Father R.
I like what I say about the film, not because it is so obvious, but realized that he said: The mysterious God. This is part of the mystery. Thanks for the surprising observation.
Photography (Photo) is excellent, if art and spare parts, adding the silence and simplicity. The director picks up the pace in the monastery's life effectively. Contributes to the film. Many shots well as still images. This is a good documentary, and a work of art.
I received the two CD as a birthday gift, shop at Amazon.com. Experience to see the film allows me to complete the sense of community and relations between the monks and with God. I have the fortune to read Böckmann Aquino, "The expansion of our hearts in Christ, Perspectives of the Rule of St. Benedict. Film is a powerful aid to the imagination, and this film highlights
meaning of life committed to Christ. Since not only a message in this film is also a message of the book's sister Böckmann. "
There are many special moments in this movie: change of seasons, the rhythm of daily life through the seasons, and even the faces of the monks look at the camera. This series of portraits is in itself interesting. During the discussion via email, Anne wrote of her joy and interest in seeing the faces of the monks:
In response to the power of the film stated a religious viewer of the film Ana said:
"What seemed to say that I was – I could find: all those looking for something in the world, deepest desire of every human heart: we have discovered. Their faces shine with heavenly joy and peace beyond themselves. Something in my soul goes back to the same in nostalgia and recognition and love. It is a moment that makes your heart a long murmur "yes."
She saw men making the film their lives. This is a positive film, filled with a kind of fear. Fear is in the life of these monks, the way they live and what they are in prayer and dedication. It is in their peace and their connectivity with the Almighty.
For the individual or group interested in religious issues, who want to learn more about the life in a monastery, or what is to devote his life to Christ, this film is an excellent choice. For filmgoers interested in art and film visually stunning, is an excellent choice. For the seekers of God who desire to see what a group of people as God is paramount in their lives, the choice of film is useful and instructive. In fact, form, style and method, is a film inspiring.
